The Philadelphia 76ers and Mike Gansey have been off to an incredible start to the 2026 offseason. It was expected to be a rather dull period for Sixers fans, with maybe a few depth signings. Instead, they’ve added a ton of depth and made one of the best trades in franchise history. Here are some grades on the moves Philadelphia has made so far.

Drafting Labaron Philon (Pick 22)

Labaron Philon may have received a little lower grade if these were done right after the draft, but that’s not because he lacks talent. He’s a superbly talented guard who will really help the bench production. The concern post-draft was the lack of frontcourt help, but that has since been addressed.

Grade: A

Dean Wade Signing (4yr/$39mil)

Dean Wade was a heavily rumored target for the Sixers, and they were able to close out the deal for the defensive specialist. He showed out during this year’s postseason, notably shutting down Cade Cunningham and Brandon Ingram during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ postseason run. He now reunites with his Gansey, his former GM, in Philadelphia.

Ariel Hukporti Signing (1yr/$3.4mil)

Ariel Hukporti is not a bad player, but the signing doesn’t make a ton of sense for the 76ers. This is the only move that’s a little shaky for Gansey so far. The fit isn’t there, and he can’t be trusted as the full-time backup center to Joel Embiid. Paying him more than the minimum also cuts into the bi-annual exception, limiting the potential spending for other parts of the roster. Not the best signing.

Anfernee Simons Signing (2yr/$12.3mil)

The Anfernee Simons signing came out of nowhere on Thursday afternoon. This is the exact type of player that Philadelphia needed to add to the bench. He will be a spark plug with high upside scoring and three-point shooting.

Jaylen Brown Trade (Paul George + Draft Picks)

The Jaylen Brown trade is the easiest move to grade on this entire list. The Sixers absolutely robbed Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics. Brown gives Philadelphia a new superstar and hope for the future while maintaining contender status right now.

End Of My Philadelphia 76ers Grades Rant

The 76ers have completely changed the outlook on their season. They went from a fringe playoff team to a legit contender in the Eastern Conference. Now, does Gansey have one more home run up his sleeve? Could he get LeBron James to the city of brotherly love?
