The Phoenix Suns entered the 2025 NBA Draft looking to add some young talent to their roster as they officially began their mini-rebuild after trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets earlier in the week.
That is exactly what the Suns were able to do as they began the first round of the draft on Wednesday night by selecting Duke center Khaman Maluach 10th overall to bolster their frontcourt.

They then made a trade with the Charlotte Hornets to acquire Mark Williams right after selecting Maluach in a deal that sent the 29th pick and a 2029 first-round pick to Charlotte.

Phoenix then made multiple trades ahead of the start of the second round on Thursday night as they moved up to the 31st pick after acquiring it from the Minnesota Timberwolves to select Saint Joseph’s forward Rasheer Fleming.

With these moves, the Suns earned an A grade for their 2025 NBA Draft as they made the most out the picks they had to upgrade their roster as they enter a new era in Phoenix.
Of course, adding Maluach will be a massive upgrade to their frontcourt for next season as he provides them with an elite rim protector and could eventually develop into a solid three-point shooter to go along with his offensive abilities inside.
Phoenix then made the trade for Williams who was another great upgrade for their frontcourt, though he has struggled with injuries during his NBA career.
The Suns also made a bold move to trade up for Fleming at the top of the second round, though many, including the Suns, believed that he should have been a first-round pick and he will give Phoenix a versatile scorer and defender.
For Brea, he gives the Suns a deadly outside shooter after leading the SEC in three-point shooting percentage last season.
The Suns entered the draft looking to build out their roster around Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks and that is exactly what they were able to do as they try to turn things around in Phoenix.
