Sitting at 4-11 on the year, the 2025-26 campaign has not started out how the Memphis Grizzlies might have hoped. They'll take the floor Thursday eager to put an end to their current losing skid, but might have to try and do so without the services of one of their top players.

Since being drafted fourth overall back in 2018, Jaren Jackson Jr. has blossomed into a foundational piece of the Grizzlies franchise. He has progressively gotten better over the course of his NBA career, cementing himself as one of today's top two-way bigs. Alongside Ja Morant, JJJ has done his part in leading the charge for Memphis. However, the two-time All-Star is now battling an ailment that could leave him on the sidelines.

Jackson Jr. logged 33 minutes in the Grizzlies' 111-101 loss to the San Antonio Spurs Tuesday, ending the night with 18 points and six rebounds. Per the latest injury report, it appears that he might have sustained an injury during this outing as well.

On Wednesday evening, the Grizzlies released their injury report for their upcoming meeting with the Sacramento Kings Thursday. Jackson Jr. finds himself listed, as he has been downgraded to doubtful due to a sprained right ankle. This is a big blow for Memphis, seeing that Morant is already sidelined with a calf injury.

Jackson Jr.'s production has seen a slight dip to open the season, averaging 17.9 points and 1.3 blocks across his first 15 appearances. Without him and Morant, Memphis faces a very uphill climb in their quest to get back to .500 in a loaded Western Conference.

In the event that Jackson Jr. is unable to suit up against the Kings, Santi Aldama and Vince Williams Jr. are likely to see extended playing time Thursday night.
