Grizzlies' Ja Morant sued by a teenager

Ja Morant never hesitates to take a shot. Unfortunately, that might include punches.

According to a report from TMZ Sports, Morant was sued in September over an altercation at a pickup game at his house. The 17-year-old who filed the lawsuit told the police that he was playing basketball with Morant when the two started arguing. The angry teen then threw the ball and "accidentally" hit Morant in the face.

In response, Morant allegedly asked another player, "Should I do it to him?"

Then Morant allegedly punched the teenager and knocked him to the ground, where he was allegedly struck repeatedly.

Official documents report the police noticed the teenager had a "large knot" on his head.

For his part, Morant acknowledged hitting the teenager and insists it was in self-defense, which makes sense because the kid threw a basketball into his face. Morant alleged that the teen also approached him "as if he wanted to fight" before the punch. When the teen was escorted off the property, Morant claims the teen said he'd "light his house up."

There's no indication that the NBA is investigating, nor do we know what the lawsuit is asking for. What we do know is that it's a bad idea to start a fight with a pro athlete, on accident or otherwise.
