Grizzlies sign head coach Taylor Jenkins to multi-year extension

On Monday, the Memphis Grizzlies an agreement with head coach Taylor Jenkins on a multi-year contract extension.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hired in 2019 by the Grizzlies, Jenkins, 37, just wrapped up his third season patrolling the sidelines in Memphis. In Jenkins' third year at the helm, the Grizzlies (56-26) finished with the second-best record in the NBA, behind only the Phoenix Suns (64-18).

Memphis clinched its first Southwest Division title, earning the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies took care of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round of the playoffs, 4-2. They were eliminated in the semifinal round, in six games, by the eventual conference champion, Golden State Warriors.

"Taylor has done an outstanding job leading our team and this extension is well-deserved," Grizzlies' EVP of Basketball Operations and General Manager Zachary Z. Kleiman said on Monday. "The year-over-year progress under Taylor speaks for itself, but his growth-oriented, selfless and competitive approach has been a driving force in the establishment of a sustainable culture. We have full confidence that Taylor will steer us to Memphis' first championship."

The Grizzlies' win totals have increased every season under Jenkins. Last season, Memphis improved by 18 wins and made a 20-win jump from 2019-2020 to 2021-2022.

Jenkins has compiled a record of 128-99 and a 7-10 mark in the postseason over three seasons in Memphis.
