Harden ‘more than confident’ Nets can beat any team in seven-game series

Brooklyn Nets superstar guard James Harden understands that the regular season is largely one big warmup as he, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving prepare to guide the roster into postseason play in May.

Harden isn't lacking confidence that Brooklyn's "Big Three" will be hard to beat in the playoff tournament.

"We’re more than confident that it’s going to be difficult for a team to beat us four times in a best-of-seven series," Harden told Rachel Nichols during an interview that ESPN aired on Friday, per Greg Joyce of the New York Post. "I’m excited about it, and it’s only been a month. All of us are trying to get to one goal and that’s an NBA championship."

As Joyce noted, the trio has played together in only six games since Harden joined the Nets via a trade from the Houston Rockets last month. Brooklyn won four of those contests.

The Nets will face a difficult challenge on Saturday night when Durant plays at the Golden State Warriors as an opponent for the first time since he won two titles and two NBA Finals MVP awards as a member of the Warriors. Durant joined Brooklyn via free agency in the summer of 2019 while recovering from a ruptured right Achilles and missed all of last season.

The 32-year-old was cleared to return from the NBA's COVID-19 protocols on Friday.
