Hawks Announce Trae Young News on Sunday

Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks lost their sixth straight game on Saturday against the New York Knicks, 128-125. It was another disappointing defeat for the Hawks, with Young having a forgettable evening. The four-time All-Star finished with just nine points on 2-of-9 shooting, to go along with 10 assists and two steals in 31 minutes of action. Young also went 0-of-4 from three-point territory, compounding another poor performance for the 27-year-old.

To make matters worse, Young is now in danger of missing Atlanta’s next game, which is on Monday against the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is dealing with a quad injury and is now at risk of sitting out against OKC.

Young, who is averaging 19.3 points on 41.5% shooting, 1.5 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.8 triples per game this season, was also on the injury report ahead of Saturday’s game against the Knicks. The former No. 5 overall pick was listed as probable with a quad injury, which he was able to play through.

This might not be the case for Young on Monday, though. The Hawks announced on Sunday via the official injury report that Young is now questionable to play against the Thunder with a right quad contusion.

It is worth noting that Jalen Johnson and Kristaps Porzingis, both dealing with illnesses, have already been ruled out for the OKC game. If Young sits out as well, the Hawks could be left extremely undermanned against a 27-5 Thunder side.

Atlanta enters Monday’s game with a 15-18 record, which, as of writing, has them sitting at 10th in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks will be on the road on Monday, with tip-off from Paycom Center in OKC scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
