Hawks blatantly rejected one offer for a Ben Simmons trade
The Ben Simmons saga has been the longest NBA storyline of the season. Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Ben Simmons and the 76ers have been locked in a stalemate for months.

Philly refuses to trade its disgruntled star for anything less than its stated asking price.

Simmons will not play another game for the Sixers, no matter how much money it costs him.

Hence, the stalemate.

Nothing illustrates how dug in both sides are than what the Sixers demanded from the Atlanta Hawks when they expressed interest in Simmons.

According to Matt Moore of Action Network, the Hawks blatantly shot down one proposed deal from the 76ers.

“Two sources familiar with talks said at least one offer from the Sixers was Simmons and Tobias Harris for John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and three first-round picks,” he reported.

“It will not surprise you to learn the Hawks were not interested in such a framework, though their interest in Simmons is very real.”

Can you really blame teams for publicly pulling out of the Ben Simmons Sweepstakes given how things have gone up to this point?

And so the saga continues.

By all accounts, the 76ers’ front office has a new plan when it comes to dealing Simmons.

And Simmons, well, he has two teams he’d prefer as destinations. Sadly, nobody cares what he wants at this point.

For better or worse, it feels like no resolution will be reached on this matter any time soon.
