The Atlanta Hawks are searching for the next president of basketball operations after they fired Landry Fields following the conclusion of the 2024-25 NBA season. One of the executives who was under consideration is Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand. However, it was reported on Tuesday that he withdrew his name from consideration.
Stein Line's Jake Fischer reported on the Hawks' search for Fields' replacement. Brand was reportedly linked to the Atlanta franchise after they fired their recent executive following a 40-42 record.
The Hawks were in the Play-In Tournament but lost twice. First, to the Miami Heat, 123-114. Followed by a 120-90 defeat against the Orlando Magic.
According to Fischer, Brand is focused on staying in Philadelphia for an important offseason. Like the Hawks, the Sixers failed to qualify for the postseason. Mostly, it was because of the injuries the star players sustained.
The former NBA player isn't the only executive the Hawks have considered as Fields' replacement. Zach Klein of WSB-TV reported that a handful of former players and executives could secure the position.
"The Atlanta Hawks are casting a very wide net in their search for a team president. One name is very familiar to Hawks fans…. former GM Danny Ferry," he posted on X. "Ferry will interview for the job along with Monte McNair, Calvin Booth, Shareef Abur-Rahim and Elton Brand among others."

Brand played for the Hawks during the final three years of his career. During his time in Atlanta, he made several important connections that linked him to the current vacant position. The two-time All-Star served as a backup big man from 2013 to 2015.
