Hawks Down Pelicans For Fourth Straight Win, As Trae Young Keeps Offense Flowing

Trae Young didn’t have his best shooting night, but his 12 points and 15 assists led the Hawks to a 124-112 win over the Pelicans, extending Atlanta’s win streak to four.

Young’s ability to facilitate and keep the offense moving was key, especially with De’Andre Hunter stepping up off the bench with 22 points on his 27th birthday.

Atlanta (11-11) shot 51% from the floor and had 31 assists, extending their streak of games with 25+ assists to 14, a new franchise record.

As for the Pelicans, the struggles continue. Even with CJ McCollum pouring in 29 points, New Orleans (4-18) just can’t seem to get things together.

The team has now lost nine straight and 11 of 12 on the road, and the absence of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram is painfully evident.

The game really turned when Young hit a big three-pointer late in the third quarter to put the Hawks up by seven, and Hunter followed with another three to make it a 10-point lead. With New Orleans unable to generate consistent offense, Atlanta never looked back.

The Pelicans are hurting without their stars, and while McCollum is doing his best to keep them afloat, they’ll need more than that to dig out of this hole.

The Hawks, meanwhile, continue to roll, but the real test will come Wednesday against a tough Bucks team. After that, it’s a home date Friday against the Lakers.
