The Atlanta Hawks will have an interesting offseason as they try to improve their roster and build on what they accomplished this season. With mostly a young core, the Hawks were able to win 40 games and were one game short of making the playoffs. There were a lot of good things to take away from the season, such as the growth of Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher.
Even with Jalen Johnson missing most of the season and several trades, the Hawks still stayed competitive, but they're ready to take the next step. Trae Young is definitely ready to start winning, and he's let that be known throughout the past few seasons. Some think that the Hawks will think about trading him, but that doesn't look like the case.
NBA insider Jake Fischer recently mentioned that it's unlikely that the Hawks will trade Young.
"My current read right now is that we are not going to be hearing Trae Young’s name on the trade block — with Kevin Durant, with potentially whatever fallout could come from Milwaukee, or with Zion Williamson and the Pelicans moving forward. The Hawks have this young core of wings who all kind of need the ball put into their hands in the right positions," Fischer said.
It's obvious that the Hawks are almost close to being a team that will consistently be in the playoffs, and trading away Young will feel like a step backward. The hope is that the Hawks can get an extension done with Young this season, so the rumors can fade away.
