The Atlanta Hawks enter Wednesday's off day at 24-26 and just barely hanging on to the crucial 10th seed in the Eastern Conference standings. Their midweek injury report shows just one player on the list, but it's arguably their most important piece to the puzzle.
Hawks head coach Nate McMillan had an update on star point guard Trae Young on Wednesday, and for now, fans are stuck crossing their fingers as the team prepares for what should be one of their toughest challenges of the regular season.
Trae Young said it’s too early to say whether or not he’ll play in tomorrow’s game against Phoenix. He said his shoulder is still hurting and he was only able to get a few shots up.

No contact for him in today’s practice, just shooting.
The Suns, which are also off on Wednesday, currently have the best record in the NBA at 41-9 and are on an 11-game winning streak, which is their second run of at least 11 victories in a row this season. Atlanta welcomes Phoenix to town for their Thursday night battle, scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Young missed the Hawks' loss to the Toronto Raptors on Monday, a defeat that snapped a seven-game winning streak. The former Oklahoma guard leads the team in points (27.7), assists (9.3) and minutes per game (34.5), while posting 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest as well.
Power forward John Collins and Young are the only two Hawks to start and play in 45 games this season. The 23-year-old one-time All-Star is also currently recording a career-best shooting line of .452/.376/.895.
