Hawks reportedly interested in reunion with Al Horford

The Atlanta Hawks already have the deepest and most talented roster they’ve had in quite some time. They are among the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, and they do not look to be done adding this offseason just yet.

According to Marc J. Spears, the Hawks are among several teams that are interested in veteran big man Al Horford, as he is currently weighing all of his options and even mulling retirement.

Horford, who spent the first nine years of his career with the Hawks, might be 39-years-old, but he still showed he has some gas left in the tank last season with the Celtics, which is why so many competing teams are interested in his services.

He’s not the scorer he once was, but he’s an elite defender that’s developed a really reliable three-point shot. Horford’s always played winning basketball and adding a former NBA champion that’s competed at the highest level for nearly two decades would be a massive get for first year general manager Onsi Saleh.

Horford would fill arguably the Hawks’ biggest remaining need while providing invaluable leadership. It would also be a really cool story for Horford, who is one of the best players in franchise history, to end his career where it all began.
