Hawks reportedly sign Luke Kennard to a one-year, $11 million

The Hawks are not done! Within an hour after news broke of Nickeil Alexander-Walker signing with the Hawks, Atlanta is inking Luke Kennard to a one-year deal worth $11 million.

This deal comes after Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported that the Hawks were interested in the sharpshooting Kennard.

While Kennard certainly leaves a lot to be desired on the defensive end of the court, he does one thing at an elite level — shoot the three-ball. He’s a career 43.8% shooter from beyond the arc.

The Hawks got better defensively with NAW, who can also shoot from deep at an efficient clip and provide secondary playmaking, and got much better as a shooting team with Luke Kennard.

Onsi Saleh is building this team the right way. Atlanta is adding shooting and defense around an offensive engine in Trae Young, and there’s no reason this team, health provided, shouldn’t be a top 6 seed. More than that, in a wide open Eastern Conference, the Hawks are perfectly capable of having an Indiana Pacers-esque run if they’re healthy.
