Hawks trade Vit Krejci to the Trail Blazers

According to Shams Charani, the Atlanta Hawks are sending sharpshooter Vit Krejci to the Portland Trail Blazers for Duop Reath and two future second-round picks.

Vit Krejci was a valuable reserve for the Hawks, averaging nine points per game while shooting 42.3% from beyond the arc.

The return for Atlanta isn’t particularly significant. There’s a real chance Duop Reath never even suits up for the Hawks, but the move does create an extra roster spot for other potential deals ahead of the trade deadline later this week. It also gives Atlanta a couple more second-round picks, bringing their total to seven — assets that could be packaged in future trades.

The Hawks have been heavily involved in trade chatter leading up to the deadline. They’ve already pulled off the lone blockbuster, sending four-time All-Star Trae Young to the Wizards. Atlanta has also been loosely connected to other stars like Anthony Davis and Giannis Antetokounmpo. While much of that noise has cooled recently, the expectation is that the Hawks aren’t done making moves as they push to strengthen the roster and chase a top-six seed in the Eastern Conference.
