Heat All-Star Bam Adebayo buys mom a house for her birthday

About one week after agreeing to a maximum contract extension with the Miami Heat, Bam Adebayo purchased his mother a new home for her birthday.

Adebayo shared photos of himself and his mother, Marilyn Blount, inside the house on Instagram over the weekend. He joins a number of NBA players who have gifted their mothers something special after making it big in the NBA, including Ja Morant, who surprised his mother with a brand new car recently.

"My mom never had nothing that she could call her own," Adebayo said during a Monday video conference with reporters, according to ESPN. "So growing up and being able to do something different with basketball and be a special player, that was something that I've always had in my mind, I've always wanted to do. And just having the opportunity to do it for my mom is an incredible experience."

The 23-year-old signed a five-year, $163 million extension with the Heat last week. It could be worth up to nearly $200 million if he reaches various incentives. When discussing the contract, Adebayo admitted that it's always been a dream of his to use the money to help out his family.

Adebayo was named to the first All-Star Game of his career last season after averaging 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game while shooting 55.7% from the field. He helped lead Miami to an NBA Finals appearance alongside Jimmy Butler and also was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.
