The Heat trimmed their roster Saturday, waiving Ezra Ausar, Kylor Kelley, Gabe Madsen and Bez Mbeng, the team announced.
All four were on Exhibit 10 contracts and are expected to join the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Each can earn a bonus of up to $91,000 by spending at least 60 days with Miami’s G League affiliate.
Mbeng appeared in three preseason games, Kelley played in two and Madsen in one. Ausar signed Friday but didn’t play in the preseason finale against the Magic.
The cuts leave the Heat with 17 players — 14 on standard contracts and three on two-way deals.
Of the standard group, 12 have fully guaranteed salaries. Myron Gardner’s contract is partially guaranteed, while Nick Richards remains on a non-guaranteed minimum deal.
That puts Richards in a favorable position heading into the final roster deadline. His salary is scheduled to become fully guaranteed on the first day of the regular season if he isn’t waived beforehand.
Miami could enter the season with its current group, leaving one standard roster spot open. No further cuts are required to meet the roster limit.
