The Heat face a test on Wednesday night in their rematch with the Cavs. The Heaters competed on Monday night and scored 140 points. They also gave up 138 points to the Cavs. Donovan Mitchell hit a tremendous three-point shot over Kel’el Ware to tie the score in the first overtime. The Heat must be ready to answer the Cavs.
The Heat were embarassed in their first round series with the Cavs. They were severely outrebounded. On Monday, they were only minus 4 (60-56) in rebounds. They outplayed the Cavs in the paint by 16 and in fast break points (23-11.)
The team can compete with Cleveland. Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell were in the game last night, so “the Cavs studs” were playing. Now on Wednesday, they will play the Cavs again. The Cavs may have an advantage avoiding “the South Beach curse” for visiting teams that party too hard before a game with the Heat. Miami Beach is slow at the start of the week.
Bam Adebayo may have covered a lot of deficiencies on the Heat’s power rotation. Now, Kel’el Ware and Nikola Jovic are in the spotlight. Nikola Jovic and Kel’el Ware have played like “paper tigers” to start the season. Kel’el Ware was owned by the Cavs in the playoffs and redeemed himself with “impactful plays in key moments” according Ira Winderman quoting Coach Erik Spoelstra.
But, the key to being a professional basketball player or a business professional is, one must get up and put in the same effort daily. Now, Jovic and Ware must duplicate the same performance on Wednesday. If not, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen will be redeeming themselves and making Jovic and Ware remember who are the better players.
The Heat play six home games in November and three away games. They complete a two-game series with Cleveland on Wednesday. Then, they go up to New York to play the Knicks on a Friday night and spend the weekend in New York before coming to Miami to play on Monday night. The Heat must win two out of those three games, if not all three.
The Heat then host Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday at Kaseya and play Josh Giddey ‘s Chicago Bulls on Friday in Chicago. Then to end the month, the Heat play Dallas, Milwaukee and Detroit at home. Josh Giddey, Matias Buzelis and the Bulls owned the Heat in the regular season last year. Detroit now has Miami’s number (unless this year’s Heat object.)
