No one's ever had a shooting night like Max Strus did Thursday night. He wishes he hadn't either.

Strus went 0-for-10 from the field Thursday night, and 0-for-9 from three-point range. He's the first player to take ten shots or more without a make since Ray Allen was 0-for-13 in Game 3 of the 2010 NBA Finals. Allen did make two free throws in that game for two points, while Strus went scoreless.
He wasn't alone in his shooting struggles. Duncan Robinson shot 1-for-6, and Caleb Martin was 1-for-7, after shooting 48.9% from three-point range in the conference finals.
Caleb Martin (1-7) & Max Strus (0-10) combined to go 1 for 17 from field in Game 1 (5.9%). That's tied for the worst FG pct in NBA Finals by 2 teammates who started a game since starters were tracked in 1970-71. Via @ESPNStatsInfo

The tie was with Allen and Kendrick Perkins (1-for-4) in that same 2010 Finals game. Somehow Boston only lost by seven points.
Jimmy Butler didn't seem worried about his teammates' shooting going forward, insisting he was going to keep giving them the ball.
Reporter: “Anything you say to Max Strus or Caleb Martin before Game 2 given their shooting struggles?”

Jimmy Butler: “Yeah. I need to say if you miss the next 10 [shots], if you're open on the 11th one I'm still going to throw you the ball.”

As for Strus, he didn't seem fazed. He told reporters he got over the bad shooting night "right away", and Saturday, he was the first Heat rotation player out shooting.
And he looked good!
Max Strus gets HOT on deep 3-pointers, drilling 16-of-18 from way out there

What can history tell us? Allen went on to miss all four of his three-pointers in Games 4 and 5 — but went 9-for-13 on two-pointers as the Celtics won both games. Boston won Game 4 without a single starter making a three, in fact — 2010 was a very different time.
Strus will likely keep firing away from deep in Game 2. But Ray Allen would advise him to try a few shots inside the arc too.
