The Miami Heat have been predicted to trade for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant this summer.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report thinks Durant will land in South Beach this offseason.

Durant and the Suns are expected to work together on a trade this summer. Durant, who has one year left on his contract, is interested in playing for the Heat, sources told Hoops Wire.

A future Hall of Famer, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line. He turns 37 in the fall.

Phoenix missed the playoffs this year despite having Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Mike Budenholzer was fired as head coach after one season.

Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

One of the greatest scorers in NBA history, Durant will make $54.7 million next season. He doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract. Only Beal and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James have no-trade clauses.

“The Rockets and Spurs have the assets to go after Durant, but both should be prioritizing younger stars to grow with their cores. Durant will turn 37 in September,” Swartz wrote. “New York is low on draft picks after the Mikal Bridges deal and shouldn’t be in a hurry to shake up what’s become a strong starting five led by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

“That leaves the Timberwolves and Heat as the most likely destinations, although one should be far more desperate than the other. With Minnesota still alive in the playoffs and Miami swept out in the first round, the Heat should already be placing calls to new Suns general manager Brian Gregory about acquiring Durant. Prediction: Durant is traded to the Heat.”
