Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo missed the end of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday for an understandable, entertaining reason.
Adebayo said because it was Mother’s Day, he did not get to see the end of Celtics-76ers because his mother wanted to watch Family Feud.

"My mom turned it off and wanted to watch, what’s it called, with Steve Harvey? The 'Family Feud,'” the Miami Heat big man said, per Winderman.
Fortunately for Adebayo, he didn't miss much. The Celtics outscored the Sixers 33-10 in the pivotal third quarter to build an insurmountable lead, winning 112-88. The biggest thing he may have missed was Boston's Jayson Tatum putting the finishing touches on a historic 51-point effort (a record for a Game 7).
According to Winderman, even a couple of days before Mother's Day, the two-time All-Star was clearly putting his mom as a priority.
During a media session that was nationally broadcast on Friday night, Adebayo answered a phone call from his mother (Marilyn Blount) and chatted for about 30 seconds before getting back to business.
According to a report from Victoria Hernandez of USA Today Sports, Adebayo has a "close" relationship with Blount, who "raised him in a trailer in North Carolina as he chased his basketball dream." Hernandez added that the 25-year-old bought his mom a house for her birthday in 2020 after he signed a five-year, $163 million contract extension.
Adebayo and the Heat start their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Celtics on Tuesday. It's a rematch of both the 2020 conference finals in the NBA bubble (won by Miami) and last year's conference finals (won by Boston).
