Heat Waive Four Players

The Heat have made a series of cuts ahead of the regular season, announcing today in a press release that Ezra Ausar, Kylor Kelley, Gabe Madsen, and Bez Mbeng have been placed on waivers.

All four players had been on Exhibit 10 contracts with Miami and are likely ticketed for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Heat’s G League affiliate. They’ll each earn a bonus worth up to a maximum of $91K on top of the standard NBAGL base salary by spending at least 60 days with the Skyforce.

Mbeng (three games), Kelley (two), and Madsen (one) all saw preseason action for the Heat, while Ausar – who just signed on Friday – was held out of the team’s preseason finale vs. Orlando.

Miami now has a 17-man roster, including 12 players on fully guaranteed salaries, one with a partially guaranteed deal (Myron Gardner), one with a non-guaranteed contract (Nick Richards), and three on two-way pacts.

There’s a good chance that will be the group the club enters the regular season with, which bodes well for Richards, whose minimum salary is on track to become fully guaranteed on the first day of the regular season if he’s not cut before then.
