The Heat are already one of the league's top teams, but soon, they will be getting even stronger.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday that Victor Oladipo could make his season debut as soon as the second week of March. Wojnarowski also reports that Oladipo has joined Miami on its current six-game road trip.
Oladipo is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery last year to repair his right quadriceps tendon, an area he had injured in the past. He was acquired by the Heat in March of 2021, but appeared in just four games before hitting the mend in April. The Heat inked Oladipo to a one-year deal this offseason as he continued to rehab from his second surgery in May.
Miami acquired Oladipo from Houston, where he briefly played after being brought in as part of the deal that sent James Harden to Brooklyn. Before that, Oladipo was a two-time All-Star over five seasons with the Pacers.
He began his career not far from Miami in Orlando, as the Magic took him second overall in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Indiana. He played three seasons with the Magic before being traded to the Thunder in 2016. He played just one season in Oklahoma City before being sent to Indiana in the trade that brought Paul George to the Thunder.
Over his career, Oladipo is averaging 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and four assists per game. He logged averages of 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the brief time he has seen the floor with Miami.
The Heat entered Friday in second place in the Eastern Conference, just a half-game back of the first-place Bulls.
