Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green gave his thoughts on the recent contract news about De’Aaron Fox. The San Antonio Spurs signed a four-year, $229 million contract extension on Monday. He is wrapping up a five-year, $163 million contract he signed while playing for the Sacramento Kings, and his new one will begin at the beginning of the 2026–2027 season.
With Fox, the Spurs think they have their point guard for the future. The organization wants to maximize Victor Wembanyama, an out-of-this-world talent who is expected to bring championships. Pairing him with a dynamic point guard is part of their plan to build a competitive team for the future.
However, not everyone loved the move the Spurs made recently. NBA analyst Kevin O’Connor revealed that he’s not the biggest fan of Fox’s new deal and thinks he’s not a maximum-level point guard.
“I don’t love this for the Spurs. Fox is not a max level point guard on any team, and in San Antonio he has overlapping skills with Castle and Harper,” O’Connor said on the social media platform Threads.
The Golden State Warriors star didn’t share the same opinion as the league analyst. Rather, Green had a more neutral reaction to the signing.
“Imagine the pieces you can bring in, in that salary slot, to help speed up a rebuild. One thing for certain, in the next 24 months, Fox will not be a worse player than he is today,” the four-time champion replied.
Despite what O’Connor and Green said, the Spurs believe in Fox as the next best player for their franchise in the future.
Green has been active on Threads, interacting with his followers and fans. Recently, the Golden State Warriors star posted his take on who the GOAT of the WNBA is. According to him, it’s former star Maya Moore, who was an icon in the women’s basketball scene in the 2010s.
“Every WNBA player in history is chasing Maya Moore.
,” Green posted.
A fan wanted to have an interaction with Green. The fan asked the four-time All-Star who he thinks is the current face of the league. Without further explanation, the one-time Defensive Player of the Year named Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.
“Caitlin Clark. No question,” he replied.
Many basketball fans share the same opinion about the face of the WNBA, like Green. Since being drafted by the Fever, Clark has taken over the league, making a significant impact on and off the court.
