Coby White could be the next Chicago Bulls player seeking a new lucrative contract extension after Josh Giddey recently received one. According to Jake Fischer of the Insider Notebook, White doesn’t plan on signing an extension this upcoming season, as he aims for a massive payday in the summer of 2026.

“Coby White, to my understanding, is going to be eligible for more money as a free agent next year,” Fischer said. “The talk around the league has already been that Coby White is going to be seeking even north of the $30 million average annual value that Josh Giddey has been. I’m not expecting an extension for Coby White at this juncture.”

White is entering the final year of his three-year, $36 million contract, where he’ll earn roughly $12.9 million. He is coming off his best campaign in a Chicago Bulls uniform, having averaged 20.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists on 45.3 percent shooting from the field across 74 regular season games.

Besides White, the Chicago Bulls also face a huge decision involving Ayo Dosunmu, who’s also entering the final year of his three-year contract worth $21 million. The 25-year-old guard will earn roughly $7.5 million in 2025-26.

Chicago Bulls to send Ayo Dosunmu to Western Conference contender in mock trade idea

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report recently floated the idea of trading Ayo Dosunmu to the Denver Nuggets if the Chicago Bulls plan to offload him to make room for Coby White’s new deal next offseason.

In his three-team trade proposal, the Chicago Bulls will receive Zeke Nnaji, Peyton Watson, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2028 first-round swap, while the Denver Nuggets get Dosunmu and Justin Champagnie. Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards only get a 2032 second-rounder.

“Dosunmu is not a conventional floor general, but he’s shown glimmers of improved playmaking coming around ball screens, and he knows how to facilitate when attacking downhill…His ability to guard up on defense will permit Denver to play him beside Jamal Murray,” Favale wrote.
