The Phoenix Suns believe they found a gem in the 2025 NBA draft when they selected Khaman Maluach with the No. 10 pick. Acquiring him solves the team’s need to strengthen its frontcourt. On Monday, the former Duke center was officially introduced to the media, together with his fellow rookies, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea.

The coaching staff had a chance to see the youngsters in practice that same day. Even the Suns’ new general manager, Brian Gregory, got a sneak peek of what the rookies can do on the floor. Head coach Jordan Ott and assistant coach DeMarre Carroll loved seeing Maluach’s workout.

Even his teammate, the upcoming sophomore Ryan Dunn, spoke highly of the Sudanese big man. They raved about Maluach, and they revealed their initial thoughts on the young center.

Dunn was asked about his thoughts on Maluach. The former Virginia forward had nothing but praise for the young center.

“They’ve been great, they’re youthful,” Dunn talked about the rookies. “Khaman, man, he’s special at 18 [years old]. Super special. Him flying around, talking, being the loudest one on the floor. Being able to guard and switch and being so active, it’s great on the defensive end.”

Ott also commented on how well Maluach is on the defensive end.

“You know how big and long he is, it’s obvious. His ability to run just creates a different dynamic, the vertical spacing that he has above the rim. And then just the overall size and rim protection, you can feel it every second he’s out there,” the Suns head coach said.

Maluach has left a good impression on the coaching staff and his teammates. Fans are excited to see him play for the Phoenix Suns in the Summer League.

The Phoenix Suns are in the middle of a contract buyout negotiation with All-Star guard Bradley Beal. There’s an expectation that he’ll be one of the players who could gain a lot of attention in the free agency market once the buyout is complete. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Clippers emerged as one of the teams that have the potential to acquire the three-time All-Star, according to The Athletic.

“As long as Bradley Beal secures a contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns, the LA Clippers are likely the leaders to sign the guard, league sources tell The Athletic,” Law Murray, Dan Woike and Fred Katz wrote.

“Contending Western Conference teams have expressed interest in the 32-year-old, who averaged 17.3 points per game last season in Phoenix but came to represent the Suns’ inflexibility as they failed to build a contender around him, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.”

The Phoenix Suns are hoping to move on from Beal and concentrate on building around Devin Booker.
