Another day, another misbehaving fan spotted, and this time, it’s from the Charlotte Hornets arena. A Hornets fan hit rookie Kon Knueppel on the head after trying to shoot the ball in the second row behind the basket. Yes, you read that last part right.

Against the New York Knicks, Knueppel had an extremely great night. He had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. He was on fire from behind the arc, too, sinking 6 of his 10 attempts. However, after he was fouled by Jalen Brunson on a drive in the latter part of the fourth period, the ball went out of bounds and ended up in the hands of a fan.

Without hesitation, the unidentified man decided to shoot it from behind the backboard. The result? Kon Knueppel got hit on the back of his head.

That must have stung for a bit. It’s unclear if the fan was reprimanded for his actions or was thrown out. Gladly, Knueppel was okay after the odd incident. The Charlotte Hornets easily won against the visiting New York Knicks, 114-103.

Kon Knueppel and the rest of the Hornets are only a game and a half behind sixth place in the East.

Kon Knueppel Might Win Rookie Of The Year Award

Before the 2025-2026 NBA season started, most of the Rookie of the Year talks only surrounded Cooper Flagg. While the Dallas Mavericks youngster has been as good as advertised, the race to win the award is not as one-sided as many projected.

In the latest NBA Rookie Power Rankings, Kon Knueppel stands firmly at the top due to his stellar play. In just his first season, the 20-year-old is already one of the best three-point specialists in the entire league, hitting at an absurdly high .436% clip.
