Hot-shooting Celtics roll past Heat
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The visiting Boston Celtics made 22 3-pointers and shot 63.7 percent from the floor en route to a 143-110 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday night.

The Celtics made 51 of their 80 field-goal attempts, including 22 of 40 shots from behind the 3-point arc.

Each Boston starter made at least three 3-pointers and all five scored in double figures. Jayson Tatum led the way with 26 points and eight rebounds. Kristaps Porzingis scored 19, Jaylen Brown tossed in 18, Jrue Holiday had 17 and Derrick White finished with 15.

Porzingis left the game because of a left ankle injury with 6:53 remaining in the third. Porzingis was injured when he landed on Bam Adebayo's foot after attempting to block a shot and did not return to the game.

Adebayo and Tyler Herro each scored 19 for Miami. Jimmy Butler added 17.

The victory extended Boston's winning streak to three games, each of which occurred on the road.

It was the fifth consecutive loss for the Heat, and the team's third straight loss at home.

The Celtics shot 71.4 percent from the floor in the first quarter and led 42-29 entering the second.

Boston made 6 of its 11 3-point attempts in the opening 12 minutes and had a 40-25 lead after Porzingis' 3-pointer with 55.1 remaining in the quarter. The Celtics had made 13 field-goal attempts in a row at that point.

Boston extended its lead to 15 points early in the second quarter, but Miami was within seven points, 65-58, with 2:25 left in the half. The Celtics had a 77-64 halftime lead.

The Celtics had a 24-point lead when Luke Kornet's dunk capped an 8-0 run and made it a 111-87 game with 53 seconds remaining in the third. Boston led 113-90 after three quarters.

The Heat trailed by as many as 34 points in the fourth.
