The Houston Rockets are waiving center Jock Landale ahead of his July 7 guarantee date, sources tell ESPN. Landale is expected to sign with his preferred destination upon clearing waivers. With the addition of Clint Capella on the roster Houston now has three center on the roster.

Landale averaged 4.8 ppg and 3.3 rebounds last season 42 games. Landale, the 7-foot-1 Australian center, has gradually shaped himself into one of the most versatile big men in modern basketball. He may not command the same spotlight as some NBA stars, but his impact on the game can be felt.

Although often coming off the bench, Landale brings consistency and composure. His fit as a rotational big man capable of playing alongside difference-makers as it has made him a valuable cog in the Rockets rotations.

He is comfortable posting up or spotting up for mid-range or three-point shooting, he forces defenders to guard him on the perimeter or inside. There will always be room for a 7-foot-1 center in the NBA as they are often times needed to rebound and do the dirty work inside.

The Rockets are continuing to shape their roster for next season as Landale is the next domino to fall this offseason.
