How Can KAT Explode vs. Wizards?

The New York Knicks didn't begin the 2024-25 season as expected. However, despite a lackluster start, the Knicks seemed to have turned a corner after winning two consecutive games over the try-hard Brooklyn Nets. On Monday evening, the Knicks can achieve their first three-game win streak against the Washington Wizards at Madison Square Garden.

Although Jalen Brunson earned the Knicks' team captain role, it's plausible to asses Karl-Anthony Towns as the better player at the moment. In Towns' past five outings, he averaged 31 points, 11.6 rebounds, and four assists. After trading away Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, arguably the hearts of New York, as gritty basketball players, critics questioned if Towns could appease the Knicks' fan base.

Despite losing to the Chicago Bulls 124-123 on Nov. 13, Towns exploded for a season-high 46 points. If Towns can effortlessly explode for 18-30 shooting from the field against a better-than-expected Bulls, imagine what "Bodega Cat" would do to losers of eight consecutive matches.

The Wizards rank last in both offense and defensive rating, rendering them the worst team in the NBA from a statistical standpoint, but the Raptors take the edge with a 2-12 record. New York has the aura of a team ready to take charge amid a favorable schedule. Beating the Wizards wouldn't say much, but it would help ascend the championship-hopeful franchise past the mediocre teams of the Eastern Conference.
