Colin Cowherd believes Michael Jordan would have struggled under the same level of scrutiny LeBron James faces today, particularly in the later stages of his career.
The comparison centers on how modern coverage dissects every possession, especially for aging superstars.
It also revisits a lesser-discussed chapter of Jordan’s career: the Washington Wizards stint.
Cowherd explained his view while comparing the modern spotlight on LeBron James to how Michael Jordan’s final years were perceived.
“He’d get crushed. There’s one great 30-for-30 sports documentary left. It’s MJ with the Wizards. His teammates hated him, the coaches hated him,” Cowherd said.
Cowherd’s point focuses on how today’s constant analysis, particularly through social media, would have amplified every moment from Jordan’s later career.
He suggested the level of attention LeBron faces at this stage is unprecedented, especially given his age and continued production.
Colin Cowherd also reflected on what he personally observed during Michael Jordan’s time with the Washington Wizards.
“I watched them play twice live with the Wizards, and the body language of his teammates, everybody hated him,” Cowherd revealed.
The comment highlights a different side of Jordan’s career, away from his championship years in Chicago.
It also reinforces Cowherd’s broader argument that those seasons would have been far more heavily scrutinised in today’s environment.
In contrast, LeBron continues to perform at a high level while facing constant analysis, which forms the basis of the comparison.
