Giannis Antetokounmpo refuses to rest on his laurels. Despite earning two MVP awards, an NBA title, and a Finals MVP, the Milwaukee Bucks star says his drive for greatness remains as strong as ever. In a recent interview, Giannis emphasized that his goal now is to build a lasting legacy and do everything possible to be remembered among basketball’s all-time greats.

“At this point, I’ve accomplished everything I’ve put my mind to. But no, I just want more,” said the Bucks superstar during his media availability.

Antetokounmpo did everything he could to keep the Bucks in contention last season, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Even with Damian Lillard, one of the league’s top shooters, Milwaukee could only finish fifth in the East at 48-34. Their playoff loss to the Pacers marked the third consecutive season the Bucks failed to advance past the first round.

“I want to win another championship, and I want to win another medal for the national team, because legacy is very important for me. I go to my house, and I have this balcony, I can see the whole of Athens. We have an incredible view. We are blessed. I think about what’s important for me, and every time I come to the conclusion that it’s legacy. Legacy, like what I’m gonna be remembered for, how I’m going to be one of the all-time greats. And that’s step-by-step, you know, practice by practice, game by game, season by season. Just keep on stacking days, just keep on being consistent and available, and good things are going to happen. But you have to play to win. I don’t play to just be around or get paid. I play to win, I play to accomplish stuff on the court.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo may be just a few years removed from his 2021 championship run, but he’s eager to add more accomplishments to his NBA career. The Greek Freak believes in the current Bucks roster and expressed strong confidence in their potential to make a deep run this season.

“I was in my bed, with my blankets shivering. I wasn’t able to watch their practice and all that, but i watched film today and I see the potential that this team has. We can play fast, we’re athletes. We just have to move the ball, the ball cannot stick,” Giannis continued.

“We can space the floor, we have so much shooting and we’re gonna be better defensively. I believe we have to be a glue. Come together as a team, and I think when that happens, we are going to be good.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo has already secured his place among the best of his era, but he’s far from finished. Each season is another opportunity to strengthen his legacy and show that his drive for greatness hasn’t faded. If the Bucks can match his mindset and regain their defensive identity, they could reignite their path toward championship success.
