'I Was Always a Fan Of' – Former Boston Celtics Forward Picks Carmelo Anthony Over Kevin Durant And Kawhi Leonard

Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony was one of the best scorers during his time. Often, he’d cause a headache against teams like the Boston Celtics when he was with the New York Knicks. Anthony’s offense is one of the most polished, and opposing players usually don’t have an answer to it. However, other small forwards are better than him.

In the recent episode of “Real Talk with MJ,” former Celtics forward Marcus Morris Sr. was asked to choose between Anthony, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard. Morris was asked to start, bench and cut the three forwards. Much like Melo, Durant and Leonard are all outstanding offensive stars. Additionally, they have each won two NBA titles, something Anthony was unable to accomplish during his playing career.

Despite the difficulty in choosing between the three stars, Morris still made the tough choice.

Morris chose to cut Leonard, despite having a championship from two different organizations.

“Hey, that’s though bro. I am going with … cutting Kawhi.”

Although he knows that Leonard is an amazing player, since he played with him on the Los Angeles Clippers, Morris thinks Melo and KD are better scorers.

“And you know what? I am going to get the edge to Melo. I am bringing KD off the bench.”

In the end, he decided to start Anthony over the champions.

“Melo … s---, when I was young, that’s the only player I used to watch. Like Melo was my guy, you know what I mean. He scored it crazy. KD scored crazy too. They already know that’s just my preference. Both, crazy amazing players, amazing scores if we are just talking about straight buckets. It might not be everybody’s cup of tea but the s--- Melo used to do, I was always a fan of.”

How good was Carmelo Anthony against the Boston Celtics?

Anthony spent seven years with the Knicks, which put him in the same division as the Boston Celtics. During his time in the league, he played 43 games against the Celtics. During that span, he averaged 22.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Melo’s career-high against Boston was 42 points, on Dec. 15, 2006, while he was with the Denver Nuggets.

Anthony has also faced the Boston Celtics twice in the playoffs while he was playing for New York. He appeared in 10 games against the Celtics in the postseason, averaging 27.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Unfortunately for the Knicks legend, he never won a playoff series against Boston.
