Stephen Curry had an incredible game, as helped Team USA overcome France to win the gold medal at the Olympics. It was Curry's first gold medal win at the Olympics, and he had the performance the night, making big shots to seal the win against a resilient French team. One shot he made over Victor Wembanyama helped create an iconic picture that will stand the test of time.

This picture came during the final two minutes of the first half, as Curry got a great pass from Kevin Durant in the corner and put up a quick three, as Victor Wembanyama wasn't quick enough to close him out and get the block. Curry's shot put Team USA up by 7 points.

Of course, Curry would make the all-important dagger against France in the final seconds of the game to give Team USA a 9-point lead against France with 34 seconds remaining. Curry came up big for Team USA and helped them secure their fifth consecutive gold medal at the Olympics.

Curry had a great game overall, putting up 24 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Curry shot lights out as he normally does, going 8-13 from the field, and all of his shots came from beyond the arc, as he went 8-12 from the three-point line. If anyone had any doubts about Stephen Curry's clutch gene, he dispelled all those doubts with his performance tonight. For Curry, this is his first gold medal at the Olympics.

He now joins players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant as the only players to win an NBA championship, Finals MVP, regular season MVP, and an Olympic gold medal. No doubt that Curry belongs in the pantheon of greats like the players listed above.

Stephen Curry Delivered When The Lights Were Brightest

Stephen Curry's performance in his first few games raised some questions about his role in the starting lineup. In his first four games, Curry averaged 7.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.5 steals. He shot a measly 35% from the field, and 25% from the three-point line.

But in his last two games, Curry improved his numbers massively, averaging 30.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. His shooting numbers improved massively in the last two games, shooting at 62.5% from the field and 65.3% from the field.

Curry delivered for Team USA when it mattered most. After their win over Serbia in the semi-finals, Kevin Durant called Stephen Curry's 36-point performance 'godlike'. Curry showed what Team USA had been missing at the Olympics all these years with his absence from the squad.

While Curry is unlikely to play another Olympic tournament during his career, he can rest easy knowing that this gold medal will prove further why he is one of the greatest players in basketball history, and he has the accolades to prove it.
