Tyrese Maxey has recently been revealed to have an 86 rating on the upcoming NBA 2K26, and the Philadelphia 76ers star felt it could be higher. While most NBA players put a lot of stock into their NBA 2K rating, Maxey uses it to motivate himself.

“I don’t think we take it personal, but I do think it’s like, ‘Alright, bet, I’m going to raise my 2K rating at the end of the day.’ It’s a cool thing to like, base yourself off of,” Maxey said on Overtime.

“I’ll be at 90 by the end of the year,” the Philadelphia 76ers guard added.

Maxey is coming off his best year in Philadelphia 76ers uniform last season, averaging 26.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.8 steals on 43.7 percent shooting from the field. However, he only played 52 regular season games due to injuries, and the team finished with a woeful 24-58 record.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie is labeled early frontrunner for NBA Rookie of the Year

After failing to qualify for the playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers got the third overall pick in this summer’s NBA Draft, which they used to select VJ Edgecombe from Baylor.

Following his Summer League exploits, Philadelphia 76ers supporters will have high hopes for Edgecombe. And according to a recent poll among ESPN writers, Edgecombe is a Top 3 candidate for the 2025-26 Rookie of the Year award.

“Harper and Edgecombe finished second and third, and both players can be highly impactful as rookies,” ESPN’s Jeremy Woo wrote. “The question in both instances will be how big a role they can carve out in their respective crowded backcourts, and whether that leads to a big enough platform to mount a case for Rookie of the Year honors.”
