The Indiana Fever, still without Caitlin Clark, have dropped four of their past five games after Sunday’s 97-84 loss to the Minnesota Lynx. Kelsey Mitchell has done her part to keep the Fever in the WNBA playoff race, scoring more than 20 points in four of those five contests.
With the recent loss, the Fever dropped to 19-18 on the WNBA season. And with the playoff race starting to heat up, Indiana finds itself on the fence.
The Fever entered Sunday at 19-17 and holding sixth place in the WNBA standings. But after the loss, they slipped to the eighth and final playoff spot. The Seattle Storm moved ahead with a win over the Washington Mystics, while the Golden State Valkyries also passed Indiana by beating the Dallas Wings.
The Valkyries go into Monday with the same record as the Fever, but due to the head-to-head tiebreaker (Valkyries 2-0), Golden State has the advantage over Indiana.
Along with Indiana's drop, the Las Vegas Aces climbed to third in the league standings, while the defending champion New York Liberty have fallen to fifth.
As of Monday afternoon, the standings are as follows:
The remaining three teams (Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Dallas Wings) have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

With just a couple of weeks left in the regular season, the Fever have only seven games left to secure their spot in the playoffs. And they still don't know when (or if) Clark will be able to return.
Indiana's next three games will be crucial to the final playoff seeding. The Fever face the Storm on Tuesday before hitting the road to battle the Sparks and Valkyries, all of which are either ahead or within striking distance of the Fever.
The remaining schedule includes:
If the Fever were to drop just one of the next three, they could be in danger of slipping out of playoff contention. To make matters worse, the Sparks also hold a tiebreaker over Indiana with a 3-0 head-to-head record. The Fever do hold the tiebreaker over the Storm, however.
