Indiana Pacers Ask Tyrese Haliburton’s Dad To Stay Away

An odd scene unfolded on Tuesday night in Indianapolis when the Indiana Pacers eliminated the Milwaukee Bucks. Multiple post game “scuffles” occurred in the moments following the final buzzer, one of which included Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and the father of Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton.

Haliburton’s Dad Asked To Stay Away From Pacers Games

And due to the buzz surrounding John Haliburton’s antics, the team has asked him not to attend any games for the foreseeable future.

The elder Haliburton started the confrontation. As the Pacers were celebrating in the seconds following their unlikely overtime comeback to end the Bucks’ season, he walked onto the playing surface from his courtside seats, and sought out Antetokounmpo immediately. It is still unknown exactly what was said, but it was enough to push the Greak Freak over the edge.

Moments later, the two engaged in what looked like a heated exchange, talking things out with their foreheads pressed together. After being separated, Antetokounmpo appeared to give Haliburton a “thumbs up”, adding confusion to the situation.

Both Giannis and Tyrese were asked about it after the game. The former spoke about the disrespect shown, and the latter said that he was not accepting of his father’s actions.

Neither were the Pacers, apparently. On Thursday, it was reported that the team has decided to keep John Haliburton away from attending their games, both home and away, for the foreseeable future. He was accepting and understanding of the decision, according to the report by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Haliburton has apologized for his role in the incident on social media.

He’ll be missing some big games. The Pacers are now set to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs, and have a tough task in going against the top seed. Game 1 is set for Sunday in Cleveland, and the Cavaliers are coming in as heavy favorites in the early betting, listed with a -7.5 designation for the game.
