The Indiana Pacers took the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games in the 2025 NBA Finals. Unfortunately, the Pacers lost Game 7 to the Thunder and All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton tore his right Achilles tendon.

Haliburton, who has already undergone surgery on his right leg, will miss the entire 2025-26 NBA season, according to Pacers president Kevin Pritchard.

Three All-Stars tore their Achilles in the 2025 playoffs: Haliburton, Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard and Boston Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum.

Haliburton appeared in 73 games for the Pacers last season. The two-time All-Star averaged 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 9.2 assists while shooting 47.3% from the field, 38.8% from beyond the arc and 85.1% from the free-throw line.

In the 2025 playoffs against the Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Thunder, Haliburton averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists. He shot 46.3% overall, 34.0% from 3 and 82.8% from the foul line.

Without Haliburton, the Pacers will not be a championship contender next season. Indiana also lost Myles Turner to the Bucks in free agency.

Indiana acquired Haliburton from the Sacramento Kings in the Domantas Sabonis trade in February 2022. Haliburton is averaging 19.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 10.1 assists in a Pacers uniform.

The 25-year-old Haliburton will make $45.6 million next season while he rehabs his injury. The guard signed a five-year, $244 million extension with the Pacers in July 2023.

Haliburton has played in 333 games with the Kings and Pacers. He has career averages of 17.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.8 assists.

Basketball fans around the world can’t wait for Tyrese Haliburton to make his return to the court in 2026-27.
