On Wednesday, the Indiana Pacers took on the New York Knicks for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. The Knicks had a sizable lead in the second half, but the Pacers prevailed. Trailing during the playoffs isn’t anything new to Tyrese Haliburton and the rest of the team. During the first two rounds, Indiana was always trailing, and they never gave up and would always mount a comeback.
It led them to a familiar situation late in the fourth quarter. With the clock winding down, the Knicks had a 125-123 lead. Haliburton milked the clock, forced a switch against New York’s Mitchell Robinson and hurled a 3-pointer before the buzzer.
The two-time All-Star had a lucky bounce as the ball fell through the hoop. Unfortunately for the Pacers, Haliburton’s right foot was on the line, which meant his shot was worth two points. This sent Game 1 into overtime.
Take a look at the video below to see Haliburton’s late-game shot that sent it to overtime.

The Indiana Pacers mounted a comeback after the Knicks built a 17-point lead and secured a 138-135 win. It was an iconic performance for Haliburton as he had 31 points, four rebounds and 11 assists. He didn’t shoot the ball well from outside the 3-point arc, as he only made 33.3 percent of his shots. However, he still made important plays to steal Game 1 at Madison Square Garden.
His teammate, Aaron Nesmith, played a significant role in their offense. He had 30 points and shot 88.9 percent from beyond the arc. He is the only Pacers player to score at least 20 points.
Pascal Siakam added 17 points on 43.8 percent shooting. He also had five rebounds, six assists and two steals. Forward Obi Toppin played an integral role for Indiana off the bench. He had eight points and 10 rebounds. That includes his two-handed dunk on Mikal Bridges in overtime that pushed the lead to three points in overtime.
