Insider: Anthony Edwards is 'breakaway act' in Netflix documentary

Apparently, Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards steals the show in a new Netflix documentary featuring several NBA stars.

"Edwards is expected to be the breakaway act of Netflix's first NBA documentary series that includes LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler and Domantas Sabonis," wrote The Athletic's Shams Charania. "James' SpringHill Company led the production of the series along with Barack Obama's Higher Ground Productions and Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions. The show is modeled after Netflix's NFL 'Quarterback' series."

Netflix has yet to announce a release date or title for the new show, but it will probably premiere this fall, per Bleacher Report's Tyler Conway.
It's not surprising that Edwards is comfortable in front of the camera. In 2022, he starred in Adam Sandler's Netflix movie "Hustle." His extreme confidence also amplifies his screen presence.

Per the Star Tribune's Chris Hine, Edwards recently said, "I'm still the No. 1 option" on Team USA's Olympic roster, even though it includes James and fellow NBA champion Stephen Curry.

Edwards' play backs up the bold claim. This past season, the 22-year-old led the Timberwolves to their first Western Conference Finals appearance since the 2003-04 season, earning a second-team All-NBA nod. He also produced several highlights, such as a monstrous jam over Utah Jazz power forward John Collins. In May, fans voted this play as the Dunk of the Year.

Clearly, Edwards is a rising star — he recently signed a contract extension with Adidas that reaches eight figures annually, via Charania. And the high-flying guard's role in the new Netflix series should only increase his popularity and marketability.
