The Detroit Pistons’ incredible season has come to a disappointing end after their loss in Game 6 to the New York Knicks.

Detroit entered Game 6 on Thursday night needing a victory to extend the series to Game 7 but New York was able to make a late comeback which was capped off by a game-winning three-pointer by Jalen Brunson.

While their season has come to an end, it was truly a remarkable season for the Pistons after they completely turned their franchise around.

Of course, the Pistons finished sixth in the Eastern Conference standings this season after finishing with the worst record in the NBA in each of the last two seasons.

They also clinched a playoff spot for the first time since the 2018-19 season and while the playoffs did not play out how they wanted, they proved to be a tough test for the Knicks.

Now, the Pistons head into the offseason with some key decisions to make and ESPN’s Bobby Marks recently detailed their offseason outlook.

Marks detailed that Detroit needs to make sure to not skip any steps building their roster around Cade Cunningham after his breakout season.

Detroit also has three key veteran free agents this summer in Dennis Schroder, Malik Beasley and Tim Hardaway Jr., all of whom played a key role in their success this season.

The Pistons can also sign Jalen Duren and Jaden Ivey to a rookie extension to lock them up for the near future and with the financial flexibility that they have, they should be able to do that along with locking up their veteran free agents if they elect to do so.

Detroit does only have a second-round pick in the 2025 draft but they do have four tradeable future first-round picks if they elect to go out and add another star player next to Cunningham.

Of course, the Pistons do have some key decisions to make in the offseason but as long as they continue to build a competitive roster around Cunningham, they should be set up well for the future.
