Insider Reveals Key Phoenix Suns Front Office Update

The Phoenix Suns just went through a calamitous 2024-25 season.

Many fans had expected the team to improve upon the season prior when they were swept out of the NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Instead, the Suns went the other direction, finishing No. 11 and one spot out of the final spot for the NBA Play-In Tournament.

The Suns looked to make one final push for the spot in the last few weeks of the season, but an injury to Kevin Durant put those hopes to bed.

Insider reveals Suns front office update

Keeping Durant was a bold choice. There were reports that Durant had gotten wind that the Suns were going to trade him to the Golden State Warriors and asked them not to trade him.

On the other hand, there might've simply not been a package the Suns found suitable for a player of Durant's caliber.

While general manager James Jones elected not to trade Durant, it remains to be seen if Jones is in the Suns' plans for the future after a report from insider John Gambadoro.

"I would expect the Suns front office changes to be announced in the next 48 hours or at the latest - early next week," wrote Gambadoro via X. "At THAT time the coaching search will begin."

The Suns let go of head coach Mike Budenholzer following the disastrous season and now it sounds like Jones could be next.

This could prove to be just the beginning of a busy offseason for the Suns. If they do decide to go in another direction, the new general manager's first task could be to trade Durant. Not a move that will likely endear them well to the public and the fans.

If the mandate is to trade Durant, Jones, or the possible new general manager will likely work closely with owner Mat Ishbia to determine the best return and whether the goal will be to acquire future assets or try to stay competitive now.
