'It Always Brings Tears To My Eyes, These Guys Are My Life': Giannis Antetokounmpo On Bucks Amid Trade Rumors

Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the Milwaukee Bucks had become the central storyline of the summer after their first-round upset led to a report being published that the Greek superstar could consider a move out of their organization for the first time in his career, which could be as early as this summer.

Ever since then, the Bucks have made several moves and indicated in multiple ways that Giannis Antetokounmpo is still the franchise cornerstone in Milwaukee. Now, days after the Bucks waived Damian Lillard and signed Myles Turner, Antetokounmpo seems to have cryptically reaffirmed his commitment to the team.

The Greek superstar found an old video from his championship year on social media and penned down a personal message for the Bucks in the comments.

Antetokounmpo is coming off a season where he nearly averaged MVP numbers and finished third in the race for the Michael Jordan regular season-MVP award behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (first) and Nikola Jokic (second).

He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in the regular season, and he stepped up his game in the first round of the Playoffs and averaged 33.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, and 6.6 assists, only to face defeat at the hands of Tyrese Haliburton's Pacers.

Several former players and analysts believe that Antetokounmpo is on the precipice of requesting a trade, and the Bucks need to enter a rebuild. But Antetokounmpo's message brings a ray of hope to the Bucks front office that even the Greek superstar does not want to go anywhere, and neither do they want to initiate a rebuild when their superstar is in his prime.

What's Next For The Milwaukee Bucks?

Heading into the offseason, the Bucks still have a lot of work left to do this summer. After losing Lillard and essentially only signing an expensive replacement for Brook Lopez on the team in Turner, the Bucks still have a lot of holes in their roster, which they need to fill if they want to give Antetokounmpo and the team a fighting chance in the coming season.

The Bucks needed to sign some guards to facilitate the scoring that they lost with Lillard. While Cole Anthony is a promising signing, he is nowhere close to what Lillard brought to the team.

They also seem to have pivoted to an offensive system where only Giannis Antetokounmpo runs plays, having embraced the "point forward" in him. Giannis averaged 30-point double-doubles with almost seven assists per game last season, which is nearly a triple-double.
