“It is an embarrassment.” That was the key takeaway from college basketball national analyst Jeff Goodman when describing the Indiana basketball program following the weekend loss to Penn State at home.

A first-half double-digit lead yielded a 14-point loss in a game that saw numerous fans head for the exits with 3:22 still on the clock. It also yielded boos from a handful of fans.

Indiana basketball is now 3-6 since the start of January and are just 13-9 overall and 5-6 in Big Ten play.

It has a NET ranking of 103 and a KenPom rating of 99. The Hoosiers are currently winless in Quad 1 games.

“They’ve won one tournament game. They won one in the First Four. But in the main bracket they’ve won one tournament game,” Goodman said on his Field of 68 podcast released on Monday. “This year, obviously they’re not making the NCAA Tournament right now. Their NET is somewhere around 100.

“Here’s my question to you. How much faith do you have in Mike Woodson getting this thing right, and how? And, what do you do if you’re Woodson and his staff at Indiana to try to get this back on track? I think he’ll get one more year.”

Indiana’s nine losses have come by an average of 14.7 points per game — three coming by 20+ points.

Seven of the nine losses have come by double-digits.

“It is an embarrassment right now what has gone on in Bloomington with that program,” Goodman added over the weekend when talking about IU.
