'It’s costing them championships…' Draymond Green questions Boston Celtics leadership after disappointing home record
Bob Kupbens-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics were the best team in the regular season. No other team in the league could come close to their record by a mile. Naturally, their domination was expected to continue in the playoffs.

However, they have had a dismal home record in the recent years of the knockout stage of the league. Draymond Green has gone up against them many times and was in prime position to reveal what he saw.

The 4-time champion appeared on Inside the NBA today. While talking, previewing the Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game, host Ernie Johnson asked about their dismal home playoff record.

You know that's a leadership thing also. Like, who's the leader that's going to step up and say, 'Hey, man, this is garbage.' We've been struggling at home, it's costing us. Now, Steph Curry went on the road and beat them in Boston. It’s costing championships now. Who's gonna be the leader to come in and step up and take over that responsibility. Draymond Green replied

The Golden State Warriors superstar essentially questioned the leadership of the Boston Celtics. There has to be someone to take over the game.

All the panelists echoed that they have not seen either Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown take over a game like a leader should. They have always won games through a collective effort. When playoff games are on the line, one of them has to take the reins and lead them to a victory.

Else, as Green added, instantly the pressure falls on them to win toad games. In the regular season, that could be a walk in the park. But in the playoffs, the tide could turn.

Draymond Green watches Celtics take an unconvincing 3-1 series lead without Donovan Mitchell on the floor

While talking about the Boston Celtics before the game, Draymond Green had suggested that without Donovan Mitchell suiting up for tonight’s game, it could go either way for the championship favorites. They could struggle against a Cleveland Cavaliers team, which suddenly has the freedom to play their own way.

Or the Celtics could take advantage of the situation and win the game by dominating the game. However, it was neither. The league leaders did win the game, but only by seven points. Not the thumping that everyone expected. Therefore, the former Defensive Player of the Year almost got it right.

The Celtics could not ever establish themselves as the bonafide NBA Championship favorites against a squad that had nothing to lose. Therefore, more questions could arise about their leadership.
