It's officially panic time for the Warriors

The Warriors suffered one of their most demoralizing defeats of the season Wednesday in a 123-117 loss to the Kings. 

Stephen Curry and Co. were up 18 in the second quarter only to be outscored 37-20 in the third when they committed eight turnovers within nine minutes. Despite the mishaps, the Warriors were up seven when Buddy Hield made a three at the 9:27 mark of the fourth quarter. 

They'd be outscored 29-18 the rest of the way, getting torched by DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis, who each scored 13 points in the final period. It didn't help that Curry went 1-of-4 from the field in the fourth as the Warriors failed to gather any offensive rhythm.

The most glaring stat from the loss was that the Warriors were outscored 28-0 in fast-break points. While some of that credit goes to Sacramento's transition defense, Golden State struggled to push the pace without the services of the injured Draymond Green.

With the loss, the Warriors sunk below .500 for the first time since Jan. 14 and slipped to the 11th seed in the conference. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr rued that his team committed 19 turnovers to the Kings' seven, citing it as the main reason for the humiliating loss. 

"We were just reckless and careless with the ball," Kerr said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. "...You have to understand there has to be purpose to every game. [We had] too many just careless passes and careless possessions, where it's like 'No, that doesn't win in the NBA on the road.' Got to understand what wins and we got to execute."

Kerr's team commits 14.4 turnovers per game, which ranks 15th in the league. 

The Warriors' choke job came 48 hours after they suffered their worst home loss in 40 years to the Celtics. 

Even as Curry, Kerr, Green and others have advised the Warriors front office against drastic moves, it's officially panic time for a team most likely set to miss the playoffs for a second consecutive year. 

It would be an absolute travesty for both fans and the NBA if Curry were to sit at home through April, May and June in back-to-back years. With the Feb. 6 trade deadline looming, the Warriors owe it to Curry to ensure that doesn't happen again.
