The 2025 FIBA EuroBasket came to an end with Germany winning the gold medal over Turkey. Greece, led by Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, finished the tournament with a bronze medal. It was the first time that the Greek star won a medal in an international tournament, making it extra special. After the competition, Antetokounmpo was on cloud nine and expressed pure joy in front of the media and his fans.

During his time with the media, however, a comment from Turkish star Alperen Sengun was brought up. Sengun commented on Antetokounmpo’s passing skills after they had a lopsided 94-68 victory. According to the Houston Rockets center, he believes that the Greek Freak is an amazing player, but not an amazing passer.

“He’s not a great passer. He’s an amazing player, you know, but he’s not a great passer. So we just tried to help and jump to close the paint,” Sengun said.

After the medal games, Antetokounmpo gave his thoughts on the criticism about his passing.

“I’m a guy who doesn’t like to talk a lot. You know, I let my game talk … I’ve won everything. Everything. And this was the thing that I hadn’t won. And I won. … I’m not the guy that will talk back to coaches or players or people that say bad things about me,” Antetokounmpo said.

“It doesn’t really matter because at the end of the day, you won’t remember what they say. You’ll remember how I respond. So, I keep everything to myself. You can go see my clips on YouTube. And then come back and ask me if I’m a good passer,” the Milwaukee Bucks star continued.

Winning a medal on the international stage is never easy. All the talent in the world is gathered together in one tournament, and everyone’s fixated on ending their run in the top three. That’s where the gold, silver and bronze medals are given.

For the Milwaukee Bucks star, the Greek men’s national basketball team was focused on winning the gold medal, just like all the other countries in the tournament. Unfortunately for Greece, they couldn’t finish at the top and had to settle for third place. Despite that, Antetokounmpo still had pure joy since they finished with a medal.

According to him, winning the bronze medal is “probably the greatest accomplishment” as an athlete. Although he clarified that it isn’t better than the 2021 NBA title he won with the Bucks.

“But when you are able to make 12 million Greeks happy, and you are able to inspire the next generation – like (the 2005 EuroBasket winners) inspired us from the previous generation in 1987 that inspired them. This is the biggest thing ever,” he said.
