Ja Morant is set to enter his seventh NBA season as one of the league’s brightest young stars, continuing a journey that began when he was drafted second overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019. Since then, Morant has blossomed into an All-Star guard known for his explosive athleticism, highlight-reel plays, and leadership on the court.
Off the court, his popularity and marketability have also grown, with endorsements and fan support making him one of the NBA’s most recognizable faces. This summer, Morant has made headlines again — from launching his media company, Catch12, to embarking on a highly successful Nike tour across China to promote the Nike Ja 3.
With just over a month before training camp begins, Morant is continuing to maximize his offseason with another major move.
According to ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly, Morant’s newly launched media and business company, Catch12, has entered early exploratory conversations to purchase a minority stake in a European basketball franchise.
Azarly noted that while discussions are still in preliminary stages, the move signals Morant’s growing interest in extending his influence beyond the NBA.
“Sources familiar with the talks said those conversations are still in the early stages, but owning a minority stake in one of Europe's premier basketball markets reflects Morant and Catch12's commitment to expanding his brand beyond the United States.”

Catch12, founded this summer by Morant and his family, was built with a mission to create original content, emphasize community impact, and develop cultural storytelling to inspire the next generation.
By considering an investment in one of Europe’s premier basketball markets, Morant is taking steps to expand his personal brand internationally while also laying the groundwork for long-term business influence in the sports world. For a player already known for his on-court star power, these moves reflect a broader vision that stretches well beyond basketball.
As Morant’s off-court ventures grow, he will also aim to replicate his success on the hardwood, with the league set to resume in October. The 26-year-old guard is entering the 2025–26 season on a max contract, earning $39.4 million this year as part of his five-year supermax extension signed in July 2022 (via ESPN).
Last season, the Grizzlies were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs, falling short of expectations after a 48-win campaign. With a healthy roster and Morant leading the charge, Memphis is hopeful of making a deeper postseason run this time around. For Morant, the new season presents another chance to build on his reputation as one of the league’s top guards, as he aims to push the franchise closer to legitimate championship contention.
