Ja Morant Reacts to Nike’s Announcement on Friday

Ja Morant's 2024-25 NBA season with the Memphis Grizzlies did not end as he had hoped. After missing significant time the previous year due to suspension and injury, Morant returned to play in 50 regular-season games. He averaged 20.9 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game, contributing to the Grizzlies' 48-34 record and securing the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

However, the postseason proved challenging; during Game 3 of the first-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Morant suffered a hip injury while attempting a contested dunk over Luguentz Dort. This injury sidelined him for Game 4, and the Grizzlies were subsequently swept 4-0 by the Thunder, concluding their playoff run.

Despite the season's disappointing end, Morant's influence off the court has remained significant. Since being drafted second overall in 2019, he has emerged as one of the NBA's most dynamic talents, known for his explosive athleticism and engaging personality. His marketability led to a partnership with Nike, resulting in the launch of his signature sneaker line.

On Friday, Nike took to Instagram to announce a new addition to Morant's collection: the Ja 2 "EYBL" edition, with the caption: "For the underdog who has that dawg in them. The Ja2 EYBL is here. For all the dawgs."

Designed for participants of Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League, this exclusive sneaker features a pale yellow and gold color scheme, metallic blue Swooshes, and ostrich-inspired detailing.

Morant reacted to the release by sharing Nike's announcement to his Instagram story.

As Morant enters the offseason, his collaboration with Nike continues to thrive, reflecting his enduring appeal and influence within the basketball community. Despite on-court setbacks, his brand remains strong, and fans eagerly anticipate his return to full health and form in the upcoming season.
