The Memphis Grizzlies’ 2024-2025 season ended on a sour note, with the team failing to meet playoff expectations sparking significant changes within the organization. The franchise made a bold move by parting ways with longtime head coach Taylor Jenkins with nine games remaining after slipping in the Western Conference from the second seed to the play-in tournament.

In a further shakeup, the team recently executed a blockbuster trade by sending Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic. This move, which reallocated key assets in return for multiple first-round draft picks and additional roster pieces, hinted at a potential rebuild while leaving fans and analysts questioning the future core of the squad.

Following the Bane trade, trade rumors have quickly shifted focus to star guard Ja Morant, as his future has become a major talking point across media outlets and among insiders.

In his latest post, the 25-year-old guard sent a cryptic message on social media, citing lyrics from Rod Wave’s song “Moving On.”

“don’t cry for me when the war is over”

Morant has spent the entirety of his six-year career with the Grizzlies, leading them to multiple playoff appearances.

During the 2024–25 season, he averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the field over 50 games.

Since being selected as the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft out of Murray State, Morant has amassed an impressive list of achievements, including NBA Rookie of the Year in 2020 and multiple All-Star game selections.
